This is some great news for all the Moto Z Play users out there. Motorola has unofficially confirmed that the smartphone is receiving Android 7.1.1 Nougat. Thus, the device will join the league of the few android smartphones sporting the latest software.

However, Motorola has not officially announced the update for the Moto Z Play. The news has been confirmed via a chat between Motorola and a senior member of the XDA Developers forum. The image is attached below:

Moto Z Play Nougat
Motorola Moto Z Play to Receive 7.1.1 Nougat

Motorola launched the Moto Z Play last year with Android 6.0 Marshmallow and it received the big Nougat update in January. Motorola have generally remained good in updating the software on their flagship smartphones. So the update shouldn’t be far away.

The screen shot was uploaded by the XDA member itself and clearly suggests that the time frame for the update is not yet known.

The source and the materials provided seems to be extremely reliable and this is great from Motorola, considering that even the recently launched Samsung Galaxy S8 runs Android 7.0 Nougat.
