A new Nubia smartphone has shown up recently on Geekbench bearing the model number NX563J. It is suspected that this is the yet unannounced Nubia Z17 and the surprising aspect is that it seems to be rocking Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 835 SoC.
Now there is no indication or guarantee that this is the Z17 but it is only logical considering ZTE launched the Nubia Z17 Mini earlier this year in April. Another potential link is the model number, the Z17 Mini had been spotted on TENAA websites bearing the number NX569J. The Geekbench page for the NX563J shows the device has an MSM8998 chipset on board which as we all know is Qualcomm’s internal model number for their latest Snapdragon 835 coupled with 4 GB of RAM. This might be the base model as the Z17 Mini has a higher priced model with 6 GB of RAM. The benchmark also lists the device running Android, v.7.1.1, Nougat.
The NX563J scores 1853 points in single core benchmark runs and 6379 points on the multi-core tests. These results are comparable when stacked against other Snapdragon 835 equipped smartphones like the Samsung Galaxy S8 series and HTC’s upcoming U 11 flagship. What is interesting is that earlier it was being speculated that the Nubia Z17 would feature MediaTek’s Helio P10 SoC and have a 5000mAh battery having a ¥2,699 price tag. However, this is unlikely now post the Z17 Mini’s launch with the Snapdragon 65* series SoC. The full-size smartphone cannot feature a weaker SoC than its miniature counterpart.
