Last year, Acer unveiled the Liquid Z6 and the Liquid Z6 Plus at IFA, Berlin. Now, the company has quietly upgraded the smartphone in Taiwan. The Acer Liquid Z6 Max was showcased in an event that honoured the participants of the 2017 Taiwan Universaide Games. Acer’s General Manager also gifted the smartphone to the game’s participants. The phone is built out of metal and includes a Game’s logo at the back followed by the Universaide carbon.
The Liquid Z6 Max is largely a spec bump to it’s predecessor. The Liquid Z6 Max sports a 5.5-inch display with 1080p resolution. 2.5D glass protection is present on top. The chip underneath is an octa-core SoC which is reportedly better than the Mediatek MT6753 which powered the Z6 Plus. The RAM and storage have improved too. The RAM is increased from 3GB to 4GB and the handset includes 64GB of on-board storage.
As for optics, the Z6 Max features a 13MP rear camera with phase detection auto-focus coupled with a 16MP selfie shooter. This is a marked improvement from the 5MP selfie shooter found on the Z6 Plus. The battery capacity too has gone up from 4,080mAh to a massive 4,670mAh.
The special edition smartphone is priced at around 9,900 TWD which is approximately $330. This is a slight increase over the Z6 Plus which costed $277 when it launched.
